On the weekend, I caught the bug, the one I had been hoping to stay away from. I was out of commission for two solid days. The one thing I couldn't thinking of throughout this misery.....Coffee! The withdrawal headache helped remind me....of course...
Keurig-One perfect Cup!
I don't know if "one perfect cup" is anything like their slogan, probably. It doesn't matter though, what matters is the concept behind it.
I SEE it in the store, it's new, it's convenient, it's tied to great brands (now Starbucks), it's clean-no filters, as a trendsetter, I want this.
I TOUCH one button to create this perfect cup, go switch the channel on the television and HEAR my signal 30 seconds later, that it's good to go.SMELL fills the room, as I pick up my beverage and TASTE excellence.
Okay, okay, so it's not heaven and you can't recycle the cups, but this brand definitely has real SMACK, and if a brand can take control of any of these 5 senses they're likely to get my attention as a consumer.
WACHA!
Brands are everywhere and involved in pretty much everything we do. BlackBelts are those that are extraordinary, remarkeable, outside the box, etc. When I see brands with real SMACK, I lay it down. Stay tuned.

Laughing is Beautiful
We all love to laugh, like it or not, we're born this way. It's a beautiful thing.
It's easy to like a brand that makes you laugh, but does its job at the same time.
This brings me to my two favourite television commercials right now.
The first one's a shocker, it's hilarious, friendly, and shows me the product clearly. I have since become interested in knowing more about the brand, and can't help but notice them on the road.
I laugh every time.
Along with laughs, I enjoy the idea of one day being able to afford a Suburu. My brand perception for them has become "Expensive and Worth It"

The 2nd is hilarious, with a great tag on the end. It sells, and it makes sense. A child could understand and most importantly I laugh every time.

Fact is, I feel better about these brands for giving me laughter, and they've done an great job at making sure their not wasting my time, and their ads aren't annoying to watch a 2nd,3rd,and 4th time. Because that's where it'll start to settle, and that's where I'll eventually fall into their "Thin Market."
Never stop laughing everyday, laughter is a beautiful thing!

Cause and Effect=Success!
I tend to watch often when I'm being pulled into an advertising scheme. It's something as a marketer, I'm sure that we're all aware of. I really do love when it works, and I find myself with the product in hand, wondering what it was to get me there.
"A good advertisement is one which sells the product without drawing attention to itself"
- David Ogilvy
Most recently:
This took me by surprise, but when it I realized it, I whistled their tune!
I've gotten used to skipping packing a lunch before work at least once a week for the past 2 months, and once a week I end up there: in SUBWAY eating a "5, 5 dollar, 5 dollar footlooonnng" (Whistle)
I've been upsold, I've bought the better-bigger sandwich,I've brought friends, I've got the Sub card.
Mission accomplished Subway.
It reminds me not to forget about the beauty of sound in advertising, and how effective it can be.
It can be the most rediculous noise in the world, and sound really terrible.(ie. Rebecca Black's- Friday)
So simple, but so catchy-you might hate it, but.... A judo chop that breaks a brick is better than one that breaks you're hand, or something...
